• September and October: stink bugs and lady beetles on new light-coloured siding.

That last line is the one that surprises people. A lot cleared two streets away produces ant and rodent calls within a fortnight, regardless of the date.

Autumn rodent and wildlife pressure in Ocean View

Ocean View gets both halves of the autumn problem at once. The remaining field and woodland edges between developments behave like any Sussex farm edge in October, pushing mice toward structures as cover is cut and cools.

New construction then gives them an easier entry than an older house would. Utility penetrations, dryer vents, hose bib collars and the gap where siding meets a garage slab are routinely left unsealed on a new build, and nobody inspects them because the house is new.
